How does the Model 818 Genuine Oak Model compare?

Although all the Maelzel models that we sell are made of solid wood, many are made from the wood of trees found local to the factory in Germany - principally Aldewood - and given a Mahogany, Walnut, or other stain.  The model 818 genuine Oak model, however, is made from the seasoned wood of a genuine Oak tree, and given a natural matte finish.  Lighter in color than the genuine Walnut model, the genuine Oak wood panels have a particularly beautiful and distinctive grain.

This model also comes with the optional bell chime, popular with teachers and used to emphasize the down beat of each measure. 

Custom Engraving

A Wittner metronome makes a wonderful holiday, graduation, recital, or appreciation gift for a musician or music teacher.  Personalize your gift and make it special with a professionally-engraved custom message on a solid brass commemorative plate.  We use 0.20" thickness, high-qualify, polished, solid brass engraving blanks, 3" x 1" in size.  We permanently and precisely etch your desired message into the brass using a high-powered laser.  The finished engraving is dark brown in color (to match the Wittner seal on the metronome cover) and can be both seen and felt under the fingers.  Finally, we seal the engraving with microcrystalline wax polish, for a long-lasting, beautiful finish.  Adding a personalized commemorative plate will not slow your order - most ship within 1-2 business days.

We will affix your commemorative plate to the front of the metronome, prior to shipping, using a semi-permanent adhesive.  Although the plate is not intended to be removed; it can be, if necessary, without harming the metronome.
