Arcus Müsing Viola Bows
Musing carbon fiber viola bows are designed and manufactured by Bernd Musing, the founder and creative mind behind the innovative and highly acclaimed Arcus bows. Musing viola bows are valued for their ease of play and exceptional value, being sold at a price point significantly lower than the other Arcus lines. They are strong, yet extremely lightweight, and therefore offer the player both power and agility. And, they produce a rich, nuanced tone. The new L series bows are more brilliant in tone and, overall, produce a richer, more nuanced tone compared to the original C series Musing bows. Approx. 60 grams.
Manufacturer's Description
More than two decades ago, the "modern" bow was developed in revolutionary Paris by a clockmaker who happened to be the son of a bowmaker: Francois Xavier Tourte. Back then metal wound strings, chinrests or shoulder rests did not exist, concert halls were small. The sound volume a viola had do produce was nowhere near what we need to deliver today.
By employing carbon fibers in a unique 3-dimensional woven hollow stick we can make sticks that are as strong as traditional cello bows and as light as traditional violin bows. The resonance quality of the sticks surpasses normal carbon bows and even most pernambuco bows. Their powerful and beautiful sound will not only enlighten your music, but is ideal for any audition, competition or important solo.
Support IPCI with Your Purchase
Help preserve the Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil, where Pernambuco wood (Caesalpinia Echinata) is grown. A portion of the proceeds from every bow we sell is donated to the International Pernambuco Conservation Initiative. To learn more about IPCI and how you can help, please visit www.ipci-usa.org.
Arcus Bow Windings: Arcus has two types of winding - plain (silver or gold) and imitation whalebone (alternating black and silver/gold). Please note that Arcus chooses the most suitable winding for each individual bow, based on its weight and balance. The windings are therefore not consistent for any line or model. Regardless of what is pictured in this stock photo, your bow may come with a different style of winding. If you have a preference, please feel free to contact us about it prior to placing your order.
